Is the Corner Cupboard only for people who attend church at Big Tree Wesleyan?

Nope! The Corner Cupboard is for anyone in our local community in need. Please, take what you need!

While located at Big Tree Wesleyan Church, the Corner Cupboard is a community resource, organized by our local community, for our local community.

Do I have to donate items to take items?

Nope! There is no expectation for donations. Please, take what you need!

If you’re able, and want to donate something, please feel free to do so.

What are some of the best items to donate?

The best donations are non-perishable canned/boxed foods, toiletries, cleaning products, hygienic and health care products.

The best practice is to not let this be your “unwanted product disposal.” Try and donate items that you, yourself, would want/use.

How can I donate items?

We ask that all donations happen between the hours of 6 AM and 8 PM, any day of the week.

Simply walk up to the cupboard, open the door, and place your items on the shelves.

If you have an extra minute, and the shelves look a little unorganized, consider straightening it up!

And please, take what you need!

I went to donate items, but the Cupboard was full! What do I do?

No problem! Thanks for donating! If you’re still there, go to the front doors of the church and see if they are open. If they are, please feel free to leave your donations behind the “welcome desk” located to your right when you walk in the doors.

If you’ve already left, we’re sorry for the inconvenience! Please know that you can always call the church @ (716) 822-8424 to organize a time to ensure someone is there to help. This is also a good idea if you would like to donate in bulk or think you may have more items than could fit.

I don’t have any items, but I would like to support the Corner Cupboard financially. How can I do this?

SIGN UP FOR CLEANING AND ORGANIZING SHELVES

Inside the Corner Cupboard, you will find an optional sign-up sheet. If you would like to dedicate your time to stopping in regularly to make sure the cupboard is cleaned and organized, we encourage you do so.

SPREAD THE WORD

Tell your friends, neighbors, and co-workers about the Corner Cupboard. Share this page on Facebook and other social media platforms. Grab a flier from the welcome desk inside the church building and post it at work or on your local community board. If you know of someone in need, make sure they know about this resource. Or, pick-up items from the cupboard for them.

GIVE FINANCIALLY

Although the Corner Cupboard is community run and managed, Big Tree Wesleyan Church will ensure the cupboards “don’t run bare.” If there is a time when donations are down, the church will make sure it is stocked. If you would like to give to this fund specifically, you can write a check made out to Big Tree Wesleyan Church, with a memo line of “Corner Cupboard.” If you would like your donation to go more broadly to people in need, you can write “benevolence” on the memo line. Donations designated to this fund are used to help local individuals and families in crisis or need. You can also give online.

I need help. Is there someone I can talk to?

Absolutely. Our pastors are always available to meet during regular business hours. Please call the office @ (716) 822-8424. Or message us on Facebook.
