PHASE 1

During phase 1, all church activities are cancelled, and we are continually working to ensure that our Sunday worship services are available for everyone via live video. The services can be found on Facebook and our Website.

We strongly recommend taking this time to focus on self-care and spiritual discipline. This phase is a “waiting phase,” and we believe that how we wait will determine what the next three phases look like. We encourage you to do your best to stay home and stay safe. Please be praying for one another. We are all in different situations, but we are each making sacrifices.

Please use the following resources as well as Facebook to stay connected. Consider joining or starting an online video bible study. Do not hesitate to reach out to the church for help during this time.

PHASE 2

In phase 2 of returning to in-person worship services, attendance is limited to 50 people; strong social distancing practices will be enforced; a “no-contact” policy will be the standard; and all other groups/ministries apart from Sunday Service will not meet. Emphasis will be placed on the live stream service, and people will be strongly encouraged to gather for “watch parties” and fellowship with one another in their homes. The church building will be professionally cleaned and sanitized every Saturday.

Below is a more detailed list of these expectations and requirements for attending service during phase 2. It is to be understood that the following expectations be met by all whom wish to attend worship services until otherwise changed or redacted.

attendance

requirements

Phase 2 of New York State’s re-opening program, states that church gatherings are still limited to a capacity of 25% with strict social distancing. Due to this regulation, it must be understood that  attendance for in-person church services will be limited to 50 people, and priority will be given to people who RSVP via our online form at:

https://www.bigtreechurch.com/RSVP

upon arrival

requirements

In an attempt to limit the spread of germs and lessen the amount of work for our weekly cleaning staff, we will be initiating the following protocols to be followed by all in attendance:

1.) The front entrance to the church will be the only entrance/exit utilized .

2.) Upon arriving to the church, please wait for the door to be opened by one of our greeters .

3.) Please make your way to your seat(s) promptly .

4.) Be mindful and aware of other people’s space .

PLAN FOR masks

requirements

In following federal recommendations, masks are required to be worn  by all in attendance until otherwise indicated by the leadership of Big Tree Wesleyan Church.

no contact

requirements

We know how much we want to embrace one another with hugs and handshakes after being apart for so long, but it is necessary that we exercise discipline and  refrain from physically interacting with one another. For the time being, please just enjoy being in the presence of your brothers and sisters while you worship.

social distancing

requirements

In following state regulations, all in attendance will be expected to adhere to the social distancing practice to stay 6 feet apart from others in attendance. The church chairs will be separated to meet this need, but your attention to this detail is expected when entering and leaving the church premises.

children

requirements

There will be no nursery services available during our Sunday worship service. Children in attendance will be able to join their parent(s) or guardian(s) in the main worship service.  We understand this may be an inconvenience to you, but this temporary measure is necessary to limit the spaces used on Sundays and the spread of germs.

during service

requirements

Certain aspects of our worship service will be temporarily different until otherwise stated by leadership. All in attendance are expected to understand these changes and adapt accordingly:

1.) All connection cards, pens, bibles, and hymnals will be removed from the chairs. Please feel free to fill out an  electronic  connection  card before or after service.

2.) Plates for tithes and offerings will not be passed around during service. You may place any tithes and offerings you may have in the baskets located at the back of the sanctuary. Or, consider giving online.

3.) Altar call will still take place, but please remain in your assigned seating area during the altar call time. Doing so not only limits the spread of germs, but demonstrates solidarity with your brothers and sisters who are not able to attend in-person at this time.

4.) Be mindful of the importance of maintaining our live stream service. Priority will be given to ensure the sound and video for our online service is working properly . This might mean a minor delay in the start time of service.

upon exit

requirements

Under normal conditions, lingering after service would be expected and encouraged, but we ask that you exit the building promptly.

PHASE 3

In phase 3 of returning to in-person worship services, attendance capacity is increased to 100 people [updated: 6/27/20]; strong social distancing practices will be enforced; and a “low-contact” policy will be the standard. “Watch parties” will still be strongly encouraged, and anyone who feels uncomfortable with attending is encouraged to stay home or gather with others in a more controlled setting. The church building will be professionally cleaned and sanitized weekly.

Below is a more detailed list of these expectations and requirements for attending service during phase 3. It is to be understood that the following expectations be met by all whom wish to attend worship services until otherwise changed or redacted.

We should be looking for ways to creatively (but safely) interact with one another as a church and as a community.

These requirements and phases are not set in stone, and will be adapted as more information is received. The more sound information we have, the better we can adapt. In all of this, may God honor our calculated efforts as we seek to begin gathering again. May a spirit of unity, patience, and care, fuel each and every one of us.
